Fiscal Policy Positions and Views
Fiscal Policy, a General Statement Gingrey: Our federal government is bloated, and many government programs are riddled with waste, fraud and abuse. As a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee, I’m committed to finding ways to reduce federal spending and balance the budget. While Congress must continue funding our defense and security needs, I believe other wasteful spending can be cut from the budget. With each new appropriation bill Congress considers, I have to ask myself, “Is this a good way to spend tax payer dollars?” Eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse from federal programs should be an essential priority of Congress. To this end, I have co-sponsored legislation that forces the federal government to reduce non-defense discretionary spending across the board. Lowering the budget deficit is never an easy task, but I will work hard to get it done.
