Guns, a General Statement Gingrey: As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I believe expanding gun regulation compromises one of our constitutional rights. In addition, rigorous gun regulation does not stop crime. We should be putting criminals in prison, not harassing law abiding citizens with ineffective laws. Technological advances in background checks and gun tracking have made many of our current laws dated and cumbersome. To better educate my colleagues on this issue, I founded the Second Amendment Task Force in the U.S. House of Representatives, and have authored both the Firearm Commerce Modernization Act and the Fairness in Firearms Testing Act. It is the responsibility of Congress to defend our Second Amendment right, and I promise to continue my strong support of this agenda.
